INCREASING THE CAPACITY OF THE SABAH BALAU VILLAGE COMMUNITY TO SUPPORT THE ACHIEVEMENT OF VILLAGE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS NUMBER 5: INVOLVEMENT OF VILLAGE WOMEN

Abstract

Sabah Balau Village is one of the villages in Tanjung Bintang District, South Lampung Regency whose Village Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) score in 2022 for goal number 5 (village women's involvement) is still low, which is 29.47. This means that the Village SDGs goals that focus on the involvement of rural women are still low and need efforts to support the achievement of higher scores. For this reason, capacity building activities are needed by the Community Service Team to support the achievement of one of the Village SDGs goals. In general, the purpose of this service activity is to increase the capacity of the people of Sabah Balau Village, especially in the implementation of Village SDGs goal no. 5. In particular, this service activity aims to: (1) Sabah Balau Village has an understanding of the median age of women's first marriage, the importance of health services and education services for women, (2) There is an increase in understanding for participants regarding the importance of space and opportunities for women's involvement in village government, planning and implementing village development, and (3) There is an increase in understanding related to gender equality villages. The methods of activities carried out include socialization and counseling. The results of this activity showed an increase in participants' understanding of the need for active involvement or participation of women in governance, village planning and development, the need for village governments to establish institutions or posts for complaints of violence against children and women, and the importance of programs such as empowerment and training to be carried out.
